Tastes change

What was I thinking?

I'm amazed at how frequently I look at the things around me and realize they are the things that I HATED when I was a kid. How does that happen?

A few days ago I went to the warehouse store and bought a 3 pound bag of those nasty rice crackers that I wouldn't touch when my Dad brought them home from Japan. On the same trip I bought a one gallon jar of sauerkraut. Why not? I have several pounds of hotdogs in the fridge. And what self-respecting kid from Idaho would ever eat raw fish?

Similarly, who would have EVER thought that I would ever own 5 or 6 Willie Nelson albums? Certainly not the teenager version of me. The teenager version of me would have kicked my ass for buying a Dwight Yoakum album.

Dude, I can understand about changing tastes. I mean, I even like (some) country music. But Dwight Yokum? I don't think your tastes were "changing" so much as "fermenting..."

Dang! Now I've always listened to SOME country, but this is a serious departure for you! However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you recognize excellence regardless of genre! Always a good talent to have.
